THE GRIPPING AND DRAWING!

Scripture : Colossians 2:6-7 Psalms 11:3 John 4:5-26

I can sense faith rising in our hearts even as time passes by; though situations seem unchanging, faith is rising. Hearts are being comforted by the delight that comes with the presence of God that has not ceased to cover us. Hang tight!

I love breaking down big chunks of information, I love getting down to the tiny details which can sometimes make me a very detailed story teller. I over explain everything. I want to begin to introduce you to a solution befitting to this season we are in (and our entire lifetime on earth) which can affirm our hope and it somewhat explains the “why” of this mission field that I have been led to be part of ; writing and broadly developing content. I feel like the process of establishing a “WHY” grounds us to have a broader perspective even when things will prove difficult or uncertain in the future!

THE GRIP!

I am yet to go for zip lining, (such a shame, I know)  It keeps crossing over to my “bucket list” for the last two to three years now. I always almost do but then December comes rolling in so fast and the cycle of adding it to my goals for the next year continues. I wouldn’t say I am a procrastinator, perhaps I just haven’t prioritized this fun adventure. One thing I know is that even with the supporting gear to keep you firmly attached to the rope on both ends, one holds tight, even without being told. I may not be telling this story from experience but believe you me, I have a very good  imagination and the ton of videos I have watched have given me such solid facts. The scare one has, up in the air, is one of falling and the gripping is a reflex action. Life is scary and we grip onto something, either from intentionally focusing on what we are gripping and knowing why we are gripping or we just grip what is within reach to feel safe

I have been a Christian, a believer, for a couple of years now, very few I might add and everyday I realize that this burning desire for Jesus is something we constantly crave…We were made to crave what matters most and that is Jesus! There is a lot of swinging that comes with life ; we find ourselves thrown left, south, right, north and it is exhausting to be moving in all directions and no progress towards settling- ask sailors at sea…it is frustrating. (more on the sailors analogies  in succeeding devotional posts)

Our main prayer, our desire even as we (Christ My Anchor team) offer ourselves here to be used of God and by God is that we will inspire you to delight in the word of God and His ways and that we will be able to create an epidemic of sharing Jesus so much that the prevailing hunger in us as mortal men is fulfilled….not by any temporary fix the world offers but by Jesus ALONE!

An anchor : a device/ metal often usually attached to a ship/ boat and cast overboard to hold it in a particular place as a form of reliable support. The symbolic steadfastness of this anchor is a representation of the process of our decision-making and what or who we will govern our life… Jesus!

Christ My Anchor is not just an arrangement of words that we saw fit to use; it is a desired confession, one that is what we(I)  seek after and that it will be our (my) confession and our (my) life will be a testament of it. Born from Colossians 2:6-7

What or who do you run to for solace ? What have you held on to in the past for fulfillment? What is easier for you to run to in the midst of uncertainty? When you are shaken; when you are jobless, depressed, sick, when we are tried so hard like Job? Do you have an anchor to steady you? What is your fix?

Know your well

John 4:5-26 is one of my favorite stories in the Bible and it offers a deep seeking that we sometimes cannot tell until we are offered something more that we were previously unaware of. As is clearly established, we are constantly drawing from somewhere and like this woman, we have a lot of “Jacob wells” around us that will have us going back and forth and yet Christ is offering us a taste of something that will drive out any other longing.

What’s your Jacob well?

Taking what the world offers won’t have you full and it will be an endless cycle . But the living water will have you satisfied and the only thirst you will have will be more of Jesus – to know Him more! It is not the kind of thirst that will frustrate but it will be one that brings joy to discover the beautiful nature of the person, Jesus Christ.

As you ponder on this, I pray that Holy Spirit will reveal to you all the things that you have been holding onto that keep you temporarily satisfied. I pray that the Holy Spirit will unearth those things that have us living in falsehood of stability when we are all but shaking! I pray that as you visit this space, by God’s grace, we will be a tool that you will use to draw from the well and that with every material here, it will cause you to establish a permanence with the well of Jesus and to look to Him for support and make this declaration “Christ My Anchor” with confidence and unashamed!

When you realize the well of life and commit to drawing from it, you become anchored in Him who offers it all!

Remember,

You are light and you are so loved.

May His light shine in you, through you and in everything you do. Do not stay hidden. Let Him be glorified.

  1. The story of the Samaritan woman, through their conversation with Jesus, her perception of who he was changed from believing that he was just another Jew, to believing that he might have knowledge greater than Jacob, to believing that he was a prophet, until finally believing that he was the Messiah. That revelation prompted her to leave her water pot, run into the city and be responsible for bringing hundreds or perhaps even thousands to belief in Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah of God.I want to drink from this well.

    1. Oh yes! Love this!
May the knowledge of God in our lives push us to affirm our belief in Him and invite others to do the same!
Let us drink from this well!!
      Thank you for your feedback
